On a visit to Geneva last month, we went to the botanical gardens that stretch out alongside the lakefront of Lac Léman. To anyone interested in botany it is a must. In its collection are around 6,000,000 specimens. Geneva's connection to botany is a long tradition dating back to the 1800s with the Botanical Society of Geneva being formed in 1875, where plants were gathered from all over the world, particularly in the Mediterranean but also The Near and Far East, South America and Europe.
Not only a must for fans of all things botanical, but to those who like exploring whimsical spaces, the greenhouses of the gardens are beautiful to the eye and addictive to anyone who likes making pictures.
