008 National Botanic Garden of Wales

The National Botanic Garden of Wales only opened at the turn of the new millennium, and has since become the most visited garden in Wales.

“Conservation, Education, Inspiration

The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a charity dedicated to the research and conservation of biodiversity, to sustainability, lifelong learning and the enjoyment of the visitor.”

I visited in the height of summer on a drive back from Pembrokeshire. The gardens are in a little tucked away part of the country that is very quiet and a nice drive to get to (very green!). The plants seem so established, it feels as though they have been there for more than two decades. Yet the design of the glasshouse that is the throne of the gardens gives a modern take on what is a glasshouse, so open and light. It was nice how quiet it was too, despite it being the summer holidays and a warm day, you never felt like you were walking close to people or that it was crowded
