009 University of Bristol Botanic Garden

The University of Bristol Botanic Garden was established in 1882. It has since moved three times since, to the site at The Holmes where it is now. The site was designed in 2004 and was the first botanical garden to be built in the UK for 40 years.
“It offers a meandering 'organic' trail through a blend of informal and formal plantings. We designed the garden to be both educational and attractive.”
I took my Mum for her birthday, to see the gardens and visit my brother (who lives in the city) we spent an afternoon slowly making our way around the garden. It is small, but well formed. I would recommend if you want something more green to do in Bristol (although it is up on the downs, so a bus is a good idea). Perhaps because of the size, it feels more like you’ve wandered into someones back garden greenhouse that’s gotten a bit overgrown. Pots EVERYWHERE!
